iPad splitting keyboard

So this happened to me by mistake, and I did find a way to reverse it but it takes effort.
Maybe someone can explain this better:
If you use three fingers on each hand and accidentally slide them apart from each other the keyboard will split in two. To merge them, you have to do the opposite, three fingers on each hand and draw them together again.
Anyway I was thoroughly confused and had to play around before figuring that one out, but thought I would share, as imprecise as I am with this thing right now.

Hi Lio,
Another way to murge the keyboard is to do a two finger scrub(AKA the Go back gesture) when you are in an edit field.
I guess the split keyboard is meant to be more ergonomic, or some such thing, but I find it confusing. :-)
Anyhow, I hope this random ramble is of some help.

I was confused when I first encountered the split keyboard as well.
